2 Venture Ideas

Idea #1:
Wardrobe specialist

My idea of a wardrobe specialist is basically choosing wardrobes or outfits for people who either don't have the time to dress themselves according to the different events that they need to attend or don't have a very good fashion sense and needs someone to help them out and keep up with the trend.
My target customers would mostly be business women who need to dress themselves professionally and effectively. I do personaly services, such as going to their houses and choosing outfits from their own closets.

This is a good idea because first of all it doesn't require that much start up cost. The only start up costs that would be costing me money is advertising for my "company" which is for people to be aware of the service that i'm offering to them. It is easy to operate, i don't really need office space because i will be going to other people's houses and choosing their wardrobes from there. Or the other option is to do personal shopping with them.

Idea #2
lawn mower/leaf cleaner/snow shoveller

This is a year round job that could keep the business in check depending on the season and what we have to offer. It will be a small business because you are offering services to only near neighbours. The startup cost may be a bit or not at all depending on what kind of things you already have in your house hold. You could utilize the lawn mower at your house if you have one to mow lawns for neighbours in the summer, clean leaves in the autumn, and of course, shovel snow in the winter.

This is a good idea because these are the jobs that people don't enjoy doing or just simply wants to do it but either too lazy or don't have time at all to get them done. Therefore, it would be perfect to hire a neighbour, someone who you can rely and trust, and will get the job done fast and well. They don't need to worry about anything.

  1. I like the idea of being a personal wardrobe specialist. Many people don't have very much fashion sense and may need it. As for advertising, I think it may be difficult to "woo" people to pay for this service as they could seek some friendly advice from friends or family.

The second idea is quite common but always works. People want their yard to appeal to everyone but hate maintaining it. It would also require almost no start-up costs because some of these "customers" may already have the equipment but have given up on using them.

  2. The idea of a personal wardrobe specialist is there however it's a mixed area to be going into. People would usually ask their friends or family and the few people who are personal wardrobe specialist are people who have dedicated their time to doing this. I'm just seeing this as an idea that needs to mature more.

The second idea i believe is one that would come into play this Spring, a good time. Knowing that this idea has been proven, it's just a matter of advertising and your price point you have to worry about. That and you'll probably need a vehicle to transport equipment as there could be jobs outside the neighborhood.

  3. Your first venture idea seems very appealing because some people don't have any fashion sense and may need it to expand their taste in fashion. Promoting such service is a quite a problem because you would need a high consumer base to get word of mouth going.

The second venture idea is solid because it can be done all year round and many people are either too busy or lazy to do it themselves so this idea is very profitable. Problems might arise is the distance that employees would have to travel just to do the service.

  4. The first idea is pretty good because sometime i cant decide what to wear on formal dinner and parties. And in this situaion, girls need this service more because girls tend to have alot of dresses and they always do not know what to wear to parties and dinners.

It is clever that you think of this idea because many people hate doing these kind of work. However, there are many companies that are doing the same job in the market, so it is going to be hard to compete with other people. However, if you drop the price of this service, u can definitely attract more cusomters.

  6. Your first idea is very good. There is one thing I would suggest, and that is to rethink about your target market. I think that successful business women will already have their own style and thoughts about how they dress. Why not try to sell to another group such as teenagers? Since there are 1800+ teenagers already present within the school, it is much easier to reach them.

Your second venture idea is also very good because it is bound to profit. There is only one major expense: throwing your body in there and mowing the lawn/raking leaves. You can reject the third idea because we are now in February and there will be no snow. As for the other two ideas, they will work anyday, anytime.

  7. I think your wardrobe specialist idea is really appealing. Personally my wardrobe is always a mess and when I need to go out for a specific occasion, I ramble between my clothes to find the perfect outfit. I think someone whose really keen on fashion, will surely pay you to come over and organize their wardrobe using your fashion sense(assuming it's exceptionally good). One key factor that will help your business idea really hit it off is, advertising. You will need to actually talk to people one on one and somehow attract/convince them into trying out your fashion sense. If you are successful in that area, you're business will surely flourish!

The second idea is equally appealing. This will be a very profitable business as it has a high potential market in the business. Your service will provide people with convenience all year round which will be a major plus point for your business. However, to get your service business started, you'll have to advertise on a large scale. This can involve making a business page on facebook, dristibuting posters and posting them around the school and the community, and even putting up an add on craigslist! If you advertise in the right ways, your business has an extremely high potential of being successful!

  8. I think you should reconsider your target market of “business women” because those ladies are usually well into what they do and have an established wardrobe and style they stick to on a daily basis. I’m sure they’re also well informed with today’s top trends, they have their sources as it is. I think you should consider directing your services to high school students, especially the younger grades because some of them are still trying to “find their selves” and creating their own sense of style to standout from the crowd. You might have a better chance of gaining a profit from them. The job could also provide for mentorship guidance from yourself as you are a grad student this year and could open a “role model” position you may or may not like to take. It is just a suggestion though and something you could think about.

With the second business venture, you might want to think about who’s doing the actual job. Will you be doing all the work by yourself? Or would you hire some people to help you out? Also, what if the yard is really big? How are you going to charge your clients? By hour or by how big their hard is?

Overall, you have potential ideas Lucy. Good luck with your venture! :)

  9. I personally disagree with the first venture idea because it shouldn't be only for business womens but for women who go on dates, special occasions, the right dress, etc. The second venture idea sounds a bit better, getting a bit of income every season sounds nice but perhaps extending this service could be better as well?
